I wanted to investigate further before sharing this on my site. As a woman who has never spent more than $100 on my hair at one time, I feel my opinion is a little bias. I just don’t understand spending $300+ for hair extensions.
Although, I have never worn a weave; I understand that this would be a touchy topic of discussion. I was hoping that this story was hugely out of proportion.
A ban on weave in a Christian church would alienate its members and potential members.
But to my disappoint it’s all true… Pastor A.J. Aamir told his leadership staff at Resurrecting Faith, DO NOT wear weaves.
Pastor Aamir feels women wearing weaves presents a false image of themselves and are associated with women who have low self-esteem according to American Preachers.com.
Pastor Aamir admits to being raised Muslim in a very conservative household. He explains “I lead a church where our members are struggling financially. I mean really struggling.
“Yet, a 26 year old mother in my church has a $300 weave on her head. NO. I will not be quiet about this.”
Do you think this is his way of empowering women to embrace their natural beauty? What do you think the “No Weave Ban” will accomplish?
God in his infinite wisdom gave his chosen people the hair of the Lamb. We are the sheep of his fold. So be proud of your wooly crowns.
