Tracee Ellis Ross says “I Don’t Want You To Want My Hair…” in her new video campaign “Hair Love”. 
It all started when Around The Way Curls posted a meme on Instagram in which a little girl was seen crying with a caption reading, “That moment you realize you don’t have Tracee Ellis Ross’s hair.” Hilarious, right? Also, a truth moment. Very early in my natural hair journey I came to this conclusion. I was hurt. I felt a little betrayed by my hair. I assumed that once it was natural, I would look like “Joan Clayton”.
As a natural hair blogger, I see my picture on all kinds of natural hair sites, Facebook pages and etc. I read the comments. Some compliments; others expressions of hair envy. When women approach me with hair covetness, I simply explain the blood, sweat and tears exerted to maintain my very thick bra length hair.
I’m not in any way exempted from feelings of hair envy. My biggest hair crush is Eclark6. Whenever those feelings creep up I think about the time her waist length hair demands.
With all jokes aside, Ellis Ross wanted to take this opportunity to express her gratitude and share a message of hair self-love. Via Eurweb
“I don’t want you to want my hair. The reason I don’t want you to want my hair is I’m of the school of love what you got. For me, the reason my hair was such a battle was because I was trying to make it something it wasn’t. I wanted the hair that somebody else had,” Tracee says in the video. She concludes, “Love my hair only if it inspires you to love your hair…”

I absolutely loved this! i think more celebrities and people of importance to so many people with natural hair should come out and make their own video also. its so important for little black girls and boys to realize what they have on their head is not a curse, its not ment to be treated the way you see someone of not color do their hair! Thats what makes us so special being different and i love how she kept it real because it does take alot of hard work but is so worth it in the end. I hate hearing young girls say i cant go natural because im not mixed or i wont have good hair or something insane like that. ALL HAIR IS GOOD HAIR!! all it needs is TLC and no Creamy crack lol peace love Jessica!

When I went natural 8 years ago, I was always told, “but you can get away with it, you have good hair.” It’s all good hair. We have the most unique hair texture on the planet and we should flaunt it, not break it out and break our psyches down trying to alter it.
