What is Protective Styling
There are many ways to define protective styling and just as many methods. This process is not exclusive to naturalistas or the relaxed, it promotes and maintains the overall health of your hair. Protective styling protects against split ends and helps retain length. In practicing this styling method you ultimately will protect the hair from external factors that result in damage and breakage. Damage can a result of the elements (wind, sun, and/or snow) or chemical alterations such as chemical straighters, texturizers or color. Or one thing that many of us do not think about is the scarves or turtlenecks we’re wearing causing breakage.
Hey! I’m Fee ^_^ I have type 2b-3c hair. At least thats what my best friend Shevauni says lol that hair freak. Anyways, twist outs usually dont work how I want to because my hair drops. Because i’m mixed with black and indian. Bantu knots are perf for me but i’m afraid its the only style that currently grees with my hair. Also my hair gets clogged and dirty very easily and very very dry even though I moisturize it often. I wonder if its because of my location. I live in Jamaica for college, and the temperature is blazing hot almost all day everyday. Any tips?
I have been natural for 5 years but have been a weave wearer. This June I started to wear and take care of my natural hair reducing press and flatirons. My hair is Mid Back length and I am on my way to waist length about 5 inches away.
I am a fan of the braid out, because it gives my hair a nice curly wave, my hair is a 3b/c. However, I am lacking on what moisturizing mix to apply during the next day to wear out. I have my night time/wash routine down but those products are to keep the waves in for the next day. I would like some ideas of what should be in my “moisturizing mix” I have Aphoghee Curliffic Leave in, eco styler gel, As I am double butter for my ends, and Edenworks conditioner- Coconut Shea, CRN Curl Love and these are some of my daytime products. I find that the Coconut Shea has a lot of slip and allows my hair to hang a bit…but If I put too much of any product it’s basically like I am redoing the style and have to wait for drying due to, too much product. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
