Protective hairstyles are famous for their ability to keep our ends in tact and retain length, but there are even more benefits to this styling option. Here are some more reasons to implement protective styles into your regimen:
Cut down on knots and tangles
When you wear natural hair out what’s not to love about it? It’s free, bold, full of volume, and beautiful. However, the aftermath of wearing your hair out isn’t always so pretty. Your hair will be more prone to tangles and knots when worn out. This makes detangling time even more of a chore. Hair worn in protective styles still may get tangled a bit, but the amount of tangles are significantly reduced.
Make your day to day easier
Giving your hair a break from manipulation is great, but giving yourself a much needed break from hair maintenance is even better. The vast majority of protective hairstyles enable you to get up, moisturize if needed and go. It’s the perfect solution for when you simply do not have a lot of time on your hands and you need something that will keep your hair looking great throughout the week.
They are the perfect workout hairstyle
For those who are looking to incorporate more fitness into their routine, protective styles are the best option. Even when wearing a twist out or braid out, you have to worry about sweating your style out or it becoming too frizzy. There are no worries about frizz and you don’t have to worry about your hair flying everywhere because a protective style will keep your hair in place.
Keep your hair moisturized even longer
When your hair is worn in a protective style it holds moisture in your hair longer than when you wear your hair out. With a protective style you may be able go a couple or even a few days without the need to do any heavy duty moisturizing. While wearing your hair out, usually you will need to moisturize your hair thoroughly every day or at the very least every other day.
I happen to be more of a fan of low manipulation styles because I just like having my hair out and volume to my style. However, in efforts to cut down on tangles and make detangling easier on me, I will definitely be implementing more protective styles into my regimen.
