The holidays are upon us and it’s time for fun! Christmas parties, holiday functions, New Year’s Eve night out…the list goes on and on but are you ready? I mean have you gotten your hairstyles together? It’s time to spice up your looks with a sexy, sultry night on the town style to go with your outfit and mood.
Natural hair is so versatile regardless of your look, texture, or type, any natural can achieve gorgeous styles that will lift her spirits and bring her look together. Straight, curly, kinky, short or long…there is no reason why you won’t be looking your best for the holidays. This is a three part series of several looks to master holiday hair and this first one is all about the buns!
Buns, whether messy, tight, high or low the bun is one of the most sophisticated styles that anyone can master. A bun can be recreated on straight on curly/kinky/coily hair. Whether your hair is short (and you choose to add a bun or create a small one) or long a bun can make you stand out in the crowd.
Holiday Hair: Twisted Messy Bun
A Messy Bun has been a favorite recently in the fashion world and with naturals as it brings amateurs and experts together. No two messy buns look alike and they aren’t supposed to! That’s the beauty of the messy bun. It can be as tailored or as messy as you want and MahoganyCurls shows you how you can have a sleek tailored ponytail turn into a side twisted messy bun that will have you ready in no time!
❤ My “Natural” Bun Tutorial
A High Ponytail Bun always looks elegant and when you don’t have enough hair to make one there’s ALWAYS the option to add a little! Morgan Taylor gives a great tutorial on achieving the high ponytail bun by adding some kinky curly hair (that matches her texture). Create a flawless bun with this tutorial!
Easy Textured Waterfall Bun
A Waterfall Bun is just hair from a high ponytail that gives the appearance of a waterfall. Now, in the tutorial above you see how you can create a high bun with added hair. If you did NOT want to create the high bun but rather a waterfall bun you can follow that video prior to this one to get the ponytail to make this bun. There truly is a method to this madness, I promise! Here’s the quick and easy tutorial by whoissugar.
Grecian Goddess Bun
The Grecian goddess bun is a romantic look that takes a little more work and a little more hair but its so worth it. This bun has to be created on stretched hair and one must be able to flat twist, but Laila-Jean of FusionofCultures shows you exactly how she does it. She even has a link to a video on flat twisting if you need it. This is the style for you if you want a dreamy romantic style that will look like you spent all day on it but actually takes much less time. Gorgeous!
Four gorgeous buns, four sexy styles and four go-to looks for the holidays. I’m not one for adding hair but that high bun has my name on it so I’ll be running to the store to pick up some hair and add some spice to my style for the holidays. There is something regal about a natural hair bun so try one out and get your glam on Naturals!
Sabrina
These are actually not too bad natural hairstyles for the festive part of the year! :))
Thank you! I wanted to find really good ones that many or most could achieve.
Buns give me life. These are beautiful. I have trouble with mine because of all my uneven pieces and random partings. I’ve thought about installing some Marley braids just for consistency.
You can always had hair to give a fuller or longer effect and using a donut is a great idea too. Gel the hair that isn’t long enough to stay in the bun and add a barrette or flower to accent or to hide any problem areas.
