DIY Coconut Water Moisturizing Leave-In Spray
Before I share the recipe for my DIY Coconut Water Moisturizing Leave-In Spray, here are some important things you should know. You can also read about the Benefits of Coconut Water for Your Hair here
Read the label. Depending on the brand of coconut water there may or may not be additional ingredients such as flavors, sugar, and preservatives. Choose pure coconut water. Preservatives are fine, if you’re okay with that.
Make a small amount. I make enough that last for about 3-4 days to ensure it doesn’t become rancid. Make sure you keep it refrigerated. Again, there is a chance the DIY spray can go bad. Keep it refrigerated to make sure this doesn’t happen.
Keep refrigerated. Shake well before each use. Now, for a simple Coconut Water Moisturizing Spritz Recipe.
1/4 cup of Coconut Water
2 tsp Aloe Vera Juice
2 tsp jojoba oil
Directions:
Spray on freshly shampooed and conditioned hair and style as normal. For daily use spray on hair and scalp and style as normal.
Hello, I have waist length locs & travel a lot, is there something I can add to make the mixtures last longer to take with me from city to city ?
Hello! No comment but question: if i don’t have jojoba oil, is it possible to use an other oil like olive oil or almond oil? Please don’t forget the answer.
Aimee, really try to stick to jojoba, it’s a light oil that closely resembles the sebum we secrete naturally; so you will have the best results with it
I see that many are asking about preservatives, well if you add 1% of Optiphen (a perservative) you wont have to keep it refrigerated you can find Optiphen on Bramble Berry.com also you can add BTMs-50 in 5% amount to emulsify the misxture you won’t need to shake and the oil will mix with the coconut water of course you will have to place the coconut water on the stove and heat it until it is warm enough to melt the btms. BTW BTMS is a conditioning wax that is drived from rapeseed oil.
