Flaxseed hair gel is a natural, inexpensive hair product particularly suited for curly or wavy hair. It defines and moisturizes curly hair without creating stiffness or crunchiness. Many additional ingredients can be added to homemade flaxseed gel to customize it for the particular needs of your hair. The following process takes approximately 7 minutes.
Flaxseed gel is also a great alternative styling product for those allergic to mainstream or traditional natural hair products.
Flaxseed gel lasts about two weeks refrigerated, or longer with added preservatives. It can be frozen for later use.

Flax Seed Gel Recipe Instructions
Bring 1 cup of water to a boil in a small saucepan. Place 2 tablespoons of whole flax seeds into the water and simmer for 10 minutes or until it thickens, stirring constantly.
Pour the mixture through a mesh sieve or strainer (some people also use pantyhose to strain the gel from the seeds) and into a small jar or air tight container to remove all the seeds. Allow to cool.
Mix optional ingredients if desired.
Cover and store the gel in your refrigerator for up to two weeks. Use as you would store-bought hair gel.
